Current Exhibition

One of a Kind, an exhibition of 3-D paper wall pieces by Thomas Majeski begins Monday, June 30th, at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska City.
Majeski’s artworks evolved from two-dimensional prints and collages to three-dimensional shapes liberated from the rectangular frame. “I am attempting to create a visual experience through an abstraction,” says the artist. “I react to whatever I am attracted to at the moment. It may be an idea or simply the creative act.” His works incorporate both positive and negative space to create abstract images that incorporate prints, drawing, color, shapes, textures and transparencies. ![]()
Thomas Majeski is currently professor emeritus of art and art history at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, he received a BFA from the University of Omaha in 1960 and an MFA from the University of Iowa in 1963.
The public is invited to meet the artist at a reception on Saturday, August 2nd from 1 to 3 p.m. One of a Kind will remain on exhibit through Thursday, August 14, 2008.
