We're Hiring: Part-time Residency Assistant

The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts is currently seeking a detail-oriented person with excellent communication, hospitality, and interpersonal skills to assist the Program Director in implementing all aspects of our established artist residency program.

The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience with bookkeeping and budget management; is proficient using MS Word and Excel, Gmail, and Google Suite; is self-directed and able to organize and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently; has an appreciation for the arts and artistic practices, and can act as a passionate community liaison. Assisting with routine facility tasks and light housekeeping, this position may require frequent lifting up to 5lbs and occasional lifting up to 20lbs.

This position is part-time, Monday – Friday, up to 30 hours per week, with a fair amount of flexibility weekly, but may require occasional evening and weekend availability. Candidates must live in or near Nebraska City, NE. Benefits include paid holidays, vacation days, and simple IRA. Starting compensation is $12-$15/hour depending on qualifications and experience.

On a weekly basis, the Assistant Director is the primary contact for all current and incoming resident artists. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, arrival and departure communications; providing facility orientation tours; helping to identify and connect artists with community resources; and assuring that all living and workspaces are satisfactory throughout each resident’s stay. The Program Assistant also tracks and submits daily organizational expenses; assists with residency program marketing, including online postings, social media, and simple website updates; and co-hosts our Third Thursday Artist Talk Events.
