Murat Çolak (b. 1984, Eskişehir) is a Turkish composer based in Boston. He creates pieces for live performers and electronics. Murat's music is performed throughout North America, Europe and the Middle East by ensembles such as Dal Niente, Wet Ink, Meitar, Vertixe Sonora, Scenatet, Distractfold and Mise-en. His work have been supported/featured by New Music USA, Akademie Schloss Solitude, MATA Festival, BBC Cut & Splice, ISCM World New Music Days,Northwestern University New Music Conference, Frequency Series Festival Chicago,Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, VertixeVIGO, Madeira Ponta do Sol Residency and Bilkent New Music. Murat gave lectures on his work at the Simon FraserUniversity, Akademie Schloss Solitude, Israeli Conservatory of Music Tel Aviv, Boston University and Bilkent University. Murat holds an MA in Music Composition from Istanbul Technical University - MIAM (Centre for Advanced Studies in Music) and is currently a DMA candidate in Composition and Music Theory at Boston University
