Rebekah Champ received her BFA in Printmaking and Drawing at Washington University in St. Louis and is currently finishing her MFA in printmaking at the University of Minnesota under the Graduate School Fellowship, the Malcolm H. Myers Fellowship, and the Pioneer Scholarship. As a printer assistant under Island Press in St. Louis and Bohemian Press in Minneapolis, Rebekah has worked with artists such as Chakaia Booker, T.L. Solien, Sue Coe, Michael Kruegar, and Bill Fick. For the past year, Rebekah has been the Research Assistant to Jenny Schmid at Bikini Press International and has taught Beginning Printmaking at the University of Minnesota. She has also become co-founder of NotWithOut, a non-profit arts collective dedicated to exhibiting emerging artists, and Vice-President of Bohemian Press, a press primarily exhibiting students from the University of Minnesota and also printing editions for guests artists. Rebekah's work uses multiple medias including relief and monotype printmaking, soft sculptural forms made from fabric and polyfil, and large-scale Prismacolor pencil drawings. Her work reveals how the body's physical connection to a space effects a person's emotional perception of it. In drawing or forming artificial spaces or forms that can be worn or observed, Rebekah asks the viewer to question the sensor motors that inform a person on how to react to an environment.
