Sean is an Associate Professor of Painting and Drawing at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. His work has been exhibited at galleries, universities and venues regionally, nationally and internationally. This work examines how masks are catalysts for the manipulation of reality and the experience that an individual has with it. Once the mask goes on the individual a metamorphosis occurs. This "change" can be a factor of many variables...specifically experience. The question that continues to surface is that of the masks that we wear on a daily basis. These "masks" are interchangeable and multifaceted and become uniforms of sorts. Think about the ways that we as individuals cater to our environments and thus act accordingly given the situation. When are we without reservation and truly ourselves? The disguise of the mask allows the individual to indulge without hesitation.
