Canadian artist Wendy DesChene graduated with an MFA in from Tyler School of Art. Weary of limitations placed on art by institutions, she began to incorporate the audience into her installations and address her activist concepts. The resulting community collaborative exhibition "WYSIWYG", toured to 11 different communities, including the Art League of Houston, Minnesota State University, the Art Academy of Cincinnati, and The Henry Street Settlement in NY. Other collaborative-based projects have exhibited at the Soap Factory, and Tomio Koyama Gallery, Japan. She was awarded a State Art Fellowship and a Canada Council Grant. Her recent collaborative work "Monsantra", has been display at the Carnegie Museum of Art, The Goethe Institute Egypt, McColl Center, and the New Gallery Canada. She has been invited as a visiting resident artist to: The American Academy in Rome, Jentel, The Atlantic Arts Center, I-Park, Pouch Cove Canada and the Hafnarborg Art Museum Iceland.
