TBI Recovery Quilts
TBI Recovery Quilts
"I am a quilter--my first quilt was sewn in 1972, the second a sewing collaboration with a friend in the mid-1980's. Then in 2015 at retirement, I started quilting in earnest. I have never taken a class, all my quilt learning has been from books, Quilting magazines, and other quilting enthusiasts sharing their knowledge.
In 2016 we moved from Fairbury, Nebraska to Brownville, Nebraska. We were barely moved in when tragedy struck us, a disastrous vehicle accident. I was life-flighted to CHI Omaha with numerous injuries, the worst was a TBI, Traumatic Brain Injury. Day after day in a coma, not expected to live...but incredibly I did live and began a slow but determined recovery. Quilting was a big part of that recovery. Since 2017 I have made over 50 quilts, almost all have been given away."
This show holds a few quilts Paula has saved, and shares their story and her story.
