Dawn Gettler
Dawn Gettler (1979) was born and raised in Iowa and currently calls Chicago, IL home. Dawn received a BFA in printmaking at the University of Northern Iowa in 2003. In 2006, she received her MFA from Ohio University. Gettler has been in various exhibitions and recently completed artist in residence programs at The Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Spiro Arts and ART342. Recent shows include an Invitational Exhibition, Action is Eloquence, at the University of Northern Iowa. Upcoming shows for 2011 and 2012 include solo shows at the Janalyn Hanson White Gallery and at the Fitton Center. Dawn recently received full fellowship studio residencies at the Women's Studio Workshop in Rosendale, New York and The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts 'In my work I try to find the eloquence in the mundane and strive to find the beauty in the struggle. I make multiples. I have become the matrix. Perhaps, by the end of a piece I will feel more content and desire less.'
