Elizabeth Stehling
Elizabeth Stehling grew up in South Carolina and creates videos using folk dances to explore essential gestures between people. Her projects are informed by participants and reveal timely connections to a sense of place. Her drawings, photographs, and short videos have been included in exhibitions and film festivals such as the Grand Point Weird Video Festival in VT; Wassaic Film Festival in NY; Grounds Arts in NYC; ARC Gallery in Chicago; Asheville Art Museum in NC; and the Lab for Electronic and Performing Arts in Berlin. She graduated from Pratt Institute's Studio Art program with her M.F.A. in 2010. She was an Artist-in-Residence at the Wassaic Project in 2013. Stehling currently teaches in the art department at Hastings College in Nebraska and also produces independent videos for clients. A solo exhibition of her recent video work opens in February 2014 at the Hastings College Art Gallery.
