Vesna Jovanovic
Vesna Jovanovic is an artist from Chicago whose work focuses on how we collectively experience the world through our bodies and how culture forms these experiences. Currently painting and drawing on polypropylene, Jovanovic experiments with how images emerge and become animate. Jovanovic holds four academic degrees and has participated in residency programs including the Studios at MASS MoCA, Ucross Foundation, VCCA in Virginia and France, and a two-year studio residency at the International Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago. Solo exhibitions include venues such as the Hyde Park Art Center, Arts + Literature Laboratory, Reno City Hall, The Delaware Contemporary, and the International Museum of Surgical Science, with reviews and features in Newcity, New American Paintings, Bad at Sports, Art:21 Magazine, and Slate. Jovanovic’s artwork is held in permanent collections at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, International Museum of Surgical Science, and the Koehnline Museum of Art.
