Ben Morris is a prolific composer whose projects include chamber and large ensemble compositions, jazz pieces, theater music, film scores, and electroacoustic and intermedia works. A graduate of Rice University and the University of Miami, Morris lived in Oslo, Norway this past year with a Fulbright Grant, studying jazz composition. A variety of professional ensembles have performed his music throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Ben received an ASCAP Morton Gould Award, a Downbeat Award, the International Society of Bassists Composition Prize, a NJMEA Composers Award, the Frost Symphony Composition Award, two Klezmer Company Orchestra prizes, and three Festival Miami Awards. Ben attended the Aspen Music Festival, Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival, highScore, New Music on the Point, the University of Nebraska Chamber Music Institute, the International Gugak Workshop in Seoul, South Korea, and the American Composers’ Orchestra Jazz Composers’ Institute and has interned with film composer Michael Bacon.
