Dafna Naphtali is an electronic-musician, vocalist, composer/performer creating experimental, interactive, music and sound art. She draws on an eclectic musical background (jazz, contemporary classical, rock, near-eastern music) to perform and collaborate with well-regarded musicians/video-artists internationally. Her focus is on live sound-processing of acoustic/natural sounds as an “instrument” in recordings/performances with duo partners (including piano, saxophones, percussion, trombone.) Other projects include her “Audio Chandelier” multi-channel sound performances/installations and a sound sculpture created with metalsmith Ayala Naphtali, and audio-augmented-reality soundwalks (“Walkie Talkie Dreams”) and work for musical robots.

Earlier commissions were for Kathleen Supové on Disklavier piano, and “What is it Like to be a Bat?" digital punk trio w/Kitty Brazelton (Tzadik ‘03).

She has received generous support from NYFA, NYSCA, Foundation for Contemporary Arts and is a 2023 Guggenheim Fellow in Music Composition.  Dafna was born/raised and living in New York City and now lives in Greenpoint Brooklyn.
