Desireé N. Shepherd is a first generation Caribbean-American and interdisciplinary artist based in New York. She holds a BA in Communication & Rhetoric with minors in Documentary Studies and Journalism from the University at Albany.

As a professionally trained dancer, choreographer, and voiceover actor, she views her performance training as the building blocks to other mediums such as writing and directing. After working for the Fashion Director of Instyle Magazine’s personal brand, she worked at several prestigious production companies such as O Positive Films, Chelsea Pictures, and A24. She is currently working at the WGA award-winning show, Desus & Mero, on Showtime Networks.

She was a MACRO Episodic Lab powered by The Black List semi-finalist and a Hillman Grad Mentorship Lab finalist. She recently completed the AICP Mentoring Program and is currently a mentee for the Jax Media Development Program and the Unlock Her Potential program under DeMane Davis.

Her work explores social semiotics, intersectionality, and societal in-equity. Desireé draws influences from her own personal and familial experiences with assimilation, identity, and generational patterns.
