Dustin Hunt
Dustin Hunt is a Michigan-based muralist and educator dedicated to creating impactful public art that fosters connection and amplifies regional narratives. Growing up immersed in hip-hop culture in a biracial and queer household, his upbringing informs his passion for inclusive storytelling and youth empowerment. Dustin earned his BFA and teaching certification from Michigan State University. He combines his background as a hip-hop DJ and graffiti artist with a deep commitment to community-based work. He founded Muralmatics in 2018, merging mural art with education through commissioned works, student-centered mural camps, and paid apprenticeships for emerging artists. With over 25 large-scale murals spanning the state of Michigan, Dustin highlights untold
histories and cultural resilience. He co-founded Lansing’s Below the Stacks Mural Festival and has received multiple grants, including the 2024 Arts Impact Grant. Through Muralmatics, he continues to inspire curiosity, learning, and community pride, using public art as a catalyst for youth empowerment and cultural transformation.
