Ebtisam Abdulaziz is a multidisciplinary artist and writer whose work explores identity, culture, and perception through installation, performance, mixed media, painting, and works on paper. Drawing from her background in science and mathematics, she investigates subconscious states and everyday life, creating codes, systematic structures, graphic languages, and performative gestures that challenge viewers’ assumptions about natural and constructed rules. Her work often juxtaposes intimate and conceptual ideas, encouraging awareness of the surrounding environment and the forces that shape us.
Abdulaziz’s work has been exhibited internationally, including the 53rd Venice Biennale (UAE and Abu Dhabi Pavilions), the 7th and 10th Sharjah Biennials, Dubai Next Basel, Institut du Monde Arabe (Paris), Kunst Museum Bonn, Mori Art Museum (Tokyo), and FotoFest Biennial (Houston). Her video Autobiography (2007) was acquired by the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. Included in numerous public and private collections, she was named among the 100 Most Powerful Arab Women in 2013 and has lived in Washington, D.C. since 2014.
