Jake Rosenzweig was born in New York City in 1986 and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1988 when his father accepted the position as composition chair at the University of Utah. He and his friends discovered their love for music at the age of 13 and it was decided that he would play bass. At the age of 14, Jake discovered that music could be improvised and began to write his first compositions. He attended and graduated in 2009 from the University of Utah where he performed and wrote with the Derek Howa Trio and Joshua Payne Orchestra. In 2011, he received his masters from the California Institute of the Arts where he studied with Charlie Haden, Darek Oles, Vinny Golia and Wadada Leo Smith. He has worked with thrash jazz unit Stupid Man Suit, afrobeat ensemble The Sogo Takeover, garage prog projects Realization Orchestra and Secret Friends, Zappa tribute band The Teenage Prostitutes, acoustic noise duo Lumber Party, and continues solo bass project.
