Jave Yoshimoto was born in Tokyo, Japan and raised in California. He received his Bachelors of Arts in studio art from University of California Santa Barbara, Masters of Art in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his Masters of Fine Arts from Syracuse University. He has exhibited his paintings in California, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Vermont and New York. His artistic influences include Nan Goldin, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, John McCracken, and Masami Teraoka. He is interested in painting about how first generation foreigners fit into the context of the American culture, ranging from the small towns to the big cities. He currently resides in Polk, Nebraska.
