Katharine Beutner is the author of Alcestis, which won the 2011 Edmund White Award for Debut Fiction. She is an assistant professor of English at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, teaching creative writing and literature; she previously taught at the College of Wooster. Her writing has also appeared in The Los Angeles Review of Books, The Toast, Public Books, TriQuarterly, Humanities, and other publications. She is currently working on a novel about climate justice.
