Katherine Schaefer's writing has appeared in The Talking Stick, Minnetonka Review, Jambalaya, and Digit, and she has received grants and awards from the Minnesota State Arts Board, Key West Literary Seminar, and Brainerd Writers' Alliance. Her essay "Edna, with Her Mouth" was a finalist for the Penelope Niven Creative Nonfiction Award in the 2016 Salem College International Literary Awards, and her short story "Auction" was nominated for a 2013 Pushcart Prize. She has previously attended writing residencies at Ragdale, Lanesboro Arts Center, and Norcroft, and served as the 2015-16 Writer-in-Residence at Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts. She lives in south Minneapolis and is currently writing a series of personal essays.
