Mark Nathan Stafford holds a BA and an MA in Literature from Case Western University, as well as an MFA in Poetry from the University of Notre Dame. In 2005, he began working in ceramics, focusing on functional pottery and figural sculpture. In pursuit of conceptual interests, his work has expanded into other media, including metal, plastic, and cast stone. He completed his MFA in Studio Art at Florida State University in 2011, and will be a lecturer in ceramics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall of 2011. He has been awarded a Fogelberg Studio Fellowship at the Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis, MN for 2012-2013. His work has appeared in numerous national juried exhibitions, including A New Decade of Clay, 2010, and the 2010 and 2011 NCECA Graduate Student Shows, winning several awards.
