 Michael Dal Cerro was born in Chicago, IL and attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL where he received his B.F.A. in 1975. He also attended Yale Summer School of Music and Art in Norfolk, CT in 1974. Past awards include a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in painting in 1987, a New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship for works on paper in 2008 and 2022 and four artist’s printmaking residencies at Centrum in Port Townsend, WA in 1990, 1993, 2015 and 2022. Dal Cerro was awarded residencies at Frans Masereel Center in Kasterlee, Belgium in 2008, 2009 and 2011. In 2008 he received a New Jersey Printmaking Residency at The Brodsky Center for Innovative Prints at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. In 2018 Dal Cerro was artist in residence at the Newark Printshop. In January of 2019 Dal Cerro was artist in residence at AGALab in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Last year he had a one person show at the Monmouth Museum Lincroft, New Jersey.
