Born in Nebraska in 1977, I grew up drawing and painting the figure models from my mother's pattern books at her fabric store. After leaving my hometown of Newman Grove, I studied painting and sculpture at the University of Nebraska Kearney. I pursued my interest in the human figure through life drawing and the sculpting of human bones. Desiring a classical education in art, I attended the Graduate School of Figurative Painting, also known as the New York Academy of Art. Here I studied human anatomy, linear perspective, and classical techniques in painting, drawing, and sculpture, while immersed in the contemporary discourse of the NYC art scene. I proceeded to work as a painter's assistant, illustrator, and muralist before deciding to return to my home state. I currently paint, draw, and sculpt all kinds of subject matter -including the figure- out of my home/studio in Omaha, NE, and teach at the college level.
