Rosana Ybarra is an interdisciplinary artist working in painting, sculpture and performance. Originally from southern California, she received her BFA in Art Practices from Portland State University and MFA in Studio Arts from University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Ybarra uses a feminist lens to investigate how the material world reflects and imbeds cultural ideology, and works to uncover the spiritual and emotional potential of objects. She is a recipient of numerous awards, including a Kimmel Nelson Harding Artist Residency Award, Dan and Barbara Howard Creative Achievement Award and Latinx Artist Visibility Award through the Ox-bow School of Art & Artist Residency. Her artwork has recently exhibited at the Lee Dam Center for Fine Art in Marysville, KS, Project Project gallery in Omaha, NE, and the Arts & Literature Laboratory in Madison, WI, among other locations. Ybarra considers herself an activist and a dreamer, she is most well-recognized by her uproarious laughter.
