Jenni Petersen-Brant named Dubuque Arts & Cultural Affairs Coordinator

Former KHN Director (2010-2014) and KHN alum (2009) Jenni Petersen-Brant has been named Dubuque Arts & Cultural Affairs Coordinator. 

City of Dubuque, IA Economic Development Director Jill Connors has named Jenni Petersen-Brant as the City’s new arts and cultural affairs coordinator, effective July 15, 2019.  “In addition to being an accomplished artist, Jenni brings with her considerable business experience and a demonstrated skill set that will add value to the organization and our community,” said Connors.

As the City’s arts and cultural affairs coordinator, Petersen-Brant will be responsible for providing support for the City’s arts and cultural affairs activities, including coordination of Arts & Culture Master Plan activities; promotion and administration of the arts and culture operating support and special project grants; promotion and management of Art on the River and other business/public engagement programs; and developing an inventory and conservation plan for existing public art.  She will also provide staff support to the Arts and Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission, work closely with arts and business organizations throughout the city, review all current City arts activities through an equity lens, prepare grant applications, and administer and implement grant-funded projects with multi-disciplinary teams.

Petersen-Brant earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in studio art (ceramics) from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and a master of fine arts in studio art (ceramics) from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.  Her previous experience includes serving as the marketing director of the Chatfield Center for the Arts in Chatfield, Minn.; the co-executive director of ArtHaus in Decorah, Iowa; executive director at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska City, Neb.; and the education director at the LUX Center for the Arts in Lincoln, Neb. Petersen-Brant has also served on multiple arts-related boards and committees and has eleven years’ experience in teaching and mentoring.
