A native of rural Colorado, composer Leanna Kirchoff writes vocal and instrumental chamber music, choral music, and opera. Her chamber operas have been performed at universities and opera companies across the US, particularly The Clever Artifice of Harriet and Margaret, and Scrapbookers, both stories examining the experience of women and featuring exclusively female characters. She has received awards and grants from organizations including OPERA America, the National Opera Association, the American Composers Forum, International Women in Music, and the Sorel Organization. Kirchoff is profiled in the National Association of Teachers of Singing 2019 publication, So You Want to Sing Music by Women. Kirchoff holds a DMA degree in composition from the University of Colorado and teaches at the University of Denver.
