Ybarra uses a feminist lens to investigate how the material world reflects and imbeds cultural ideology, and works to uncover the spiritual and emotional potential of objects. She is a recipient of numerous awards, including a Kimmel Nelson Harding Artist Residency Award, Dan and Barbara Howard Creative Achievement Award and Latinx Artist Visibility Award through the Ox-bow School of Art & Artist Residency. Her artwork has recently exhibited at the Lee Dam Center for Fine Art in Marysville, KS, Project Project gallery in Omaha, NE, and the Arts & Literature Laboratory in Madison, WI, among other locations. Ybarra considers herself an activist and a dreamer, she is most well-recognized by her uproarious laughter.
