Rae Howell’s “Bee-Sharp Honeybee” Film Debuts in US to Sold-Out Crowd
Composer Rae Howell, KHN Alumni (2018) and creator of Bee-Sharp Honeybee, announced the US West Coast debut of the Bee-Sharp Honeybee film at the Portland Ecofilm Festival screened to a sold-out crowd. The film festival, held at The Hollywood Theatre in Portland, OR, was just one stop in the film’s upcoming worldwide travels. Filmmaker/Director Deacon Warner was in attendance for a post-film discussion. Next up for the film is a Melbourne (October 13th), screening at the Environmental Film Festival Australia.
“Austalian music composer Rae Howell’s Bee-Sharp Honeybee project brings together art, music, science and conservation to create a new way of observing and appreciating honeybees. On a six-week visit to Minnesota, she collaborated with musicians, scientists, beekeepers, animators and University of Minnesota’s renowned Bee Lab to create an original multi-media string quartet composition based on audio recordings of honeybees.” (www.portlandecofilmfest.org)
