The Bee-nefit is an interactive installation of 200 ceramic cells that raises awareness about the importance of honey beesin our eco system and also directly aids in their well-being and longevity. Honey bee pollination accounts for one third of the food we eat and their work is worth over fifteen billion dollars annually in the United States.  In 2006, alarms were sounded by American beekeepers because large amounts of honey bees were disappearing. The Bee-nefit is an effort to educate people regarding the importance of honey bees and an invitation to expand their habitat. The installation is composed of two hundred hexagonal cells arranged similarly to a honeycomb.Visitors are encouraged to take a piece of the exhibition and seeds of plants indigenous to Nebraska that provide bee nourishment and support the longevity of bee species

The Bee-nefit coincided with Nebraska City’s annual Arbor Day weekend festivities, also celebrating the beauty of pollination and trees coming to life.
